I thought Design 200 was a really good course.  I enojoyed all of the projects we did and I liked getting to see each ones purpose in design.  I liked getting to learn a little bit about each one of the design majors and how they all work together.  I thought the blogging was a very different way of teaching, but I really liked it.  I liked being able to look at other peoples to see how they were liking the course and things like that.  The one thing I wish we did more of was talk about the books we read.  I wish we could have had more time to discuss the topics in these books.

Our project turned out really well in the end.  I think our product turned out to be a pretty solid idea and that it was recieved pretty well by the class.  We all met before presentation day to go over everything and to make sure we each knew what we were doing.  Our team worked really well together.  We did a good job organizing times to meet outside of class and everyone did their fair share of work. 

During this project everyone had equal contribution to the things we wanted incorporated into the product.  I mostly worked on the kiosk design.  Olivia and I came up with the concept and how we wanted it designed.  Then I went and used google sketchup to make a rendering of what we wanted the final product to look like.  I felt like I did a good job working with everyone else and doing my fair share of work. 

Overall I really liked this project.  It was good to be working in a group because that is how it really is in the design world.  I also liked seeing how product design, visual communications, and interior design can all come into play in a project and how everything ended up.

We have been working a lot on the finalization of things for our product.  We have made final decisions on the logo design, and the kiosk design.  We are doing really well with our organization and  we are working very well with each other.   

So far during the project I have been mostly involved with the kiosk design.  I made a model of the kiosk design on Google Sketchup.  I feel as if everyone in my group has been doing an equal amount of work on this project.  I think since our group is doing very well together we are making very good progress.  We have been making times to meet outside of class to work on our project.  I feel like we are in a really good spot right now.

  We have been working on an idea for storage in the entry/ mudroom of a house.  We have come up with the basic final design and are making some more modifications before we finalize it.  Our team has been working really well together.  We had to end up splitting the tasks into groups because of everyone’s schedules.  I think it is working out really well

  Everyone in our entire group has been contributing to the final design.  I have been looking at ideas for the kiosk we will be using.  The group doing the kiosk has not met up yet, but we are going to on Monday before or after class to finish that up.  Either Matt or I will be doing the final rendering of the kiosk.  I feel as if everyone in the group is doing really well with doing their part.

The last two chapters of Design: A very short introduction were really good.  I thought it was very interesting to hear about design in Japan and their industry.  I also thought it was interesting that a lot of large design companies were established at first to make one specific product and then gradually branched out.  In this last section of the reading I also thought a lot about how design is sometimes thought of something that is new, not always universal to everyone, and can be very expensive but the book talked about how there is now a whole new market for design that designs things for third world countries in order to help them out.  I thought this was something that is very important.

The last three chapters of Cradle to Cradle were really interesting.  I enjoyed this a lot better because it started to get more into design along with eco-effeciency.  One of the things I thought was most interesting that the writers talked about was the reuse of all materials used in cars.  Making car fabric out of biodegradeable material and when disposing of the frames of the car they seperate all of the types of metal to be able to reuse them. 

These last chapters made me think a lot about the future of our world. In movies they make the future of the world seem very technology oriented with very high tech cars somewhere in space.  I believe our future world will be focused on eco-efficiency and trying to make our planet a better place.  I believe many things talked about in the book will be incorporated into our everyday lives making the world a safer and better place for us to live.
